Ben Wiggins, son of five-time Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins, has signed his first professional contract with Australian team Jayco-Alula. The 21-year-old won world junior individual time trial silver in 2023 and recorded a top-10 finish in the men's race at the Tour of Britain in September.

His father Bradley, who retired from the sport 10 years ago, became Great Britain's first Tour de France winner in 2012. Ben said joining the WorldTour next year and racing for Team Jayco-Alula was a dream come true. He recalled being invited around the team bus at the 2019 Tour de France, the morning Matteo Trentin won the stage for the team into Gap, and said he had wanted to ride for the team ever since.

Wiggins began his cycling career in 2022 as a junior rider for Fensham Howes-MAS Design. In 2024 he moved to Hagens Berman-Jayco, the United States-based team managed by Axel Merckx, son of five-time Tour de France champion Eddy Merckx. He also won the Under-23 national time trial title in a successful 2026.

Wiggins said he could not wait to be part of the races he had watched since childhood, marking the start of his professional career with one of the sport's most closely followed squads.
