Clare Connor, England and Wales Cricket Board's managing director of women's cricket, will step down after this summer's Women's T20 World Cup. The 49-year-old has served the ECB for 18 years, including a stint as interim chief executive between 2022 and 2023.

Connor's playing career spanned a decade, earning 111 caps across formats and captaining England to their first Ashes victory in 42 years in 2005. She became the first female president of the Marylebone Cricket Club in 2021-22 and serves as chair of the ICC's women's cricket committee.

During her tenure, English women's cricket transformed from amateur to professional status, with multiple domestic structure changes. Connor described her work as helping to make cricket "more equal for women and girls" and removing barriers that prevented young women from pursuing professional careers. Her departure marks the end of an era for women's cricket development in England.
