Three-time Commonwealth medallist Rosie Eccles has retired from boxing after a split-decision semi-final defeat in Glasgow, securing a bronze to add to her previous gold and silver.

In an emotional post-match interview, the Welsh fighter announced her decision to hang up her gloves, stating her "heart's full but the tank is empty." Eccles expressed a belief that she could contend for the Olympics but prioritized her health in making the retirement decision.

Eccles also launched a strong verbal attack on unspecified "awful" individuals whom she accused of attempting to "end" her career. She reflected positively on her boxing journey, stating that the sport had given her "everything in my back pocket" as she transitions to the next stage of her life.
