Mexico, the world’s top‑ranked team, opened the game with two interceptions and a touchdown that put them 13‑0 up. GB rallied, with an Angelica Tait touchdown and Emily Kemp scoring twice, but a near‑interception by Grace Conway and a last‑second drop on a two‑point conversion left them one point shy.

GB coach Jack Reed said, “We fell into a hole… Emily was out by an inch.” The USA beat GB 27‑21 in the semis, setting up a final against Canada. USA automatically qualifies as hosts; Canada and Mexico also qualify, leaving GB to wait two years for another chance.

In men’s play, GB beat Brazil 33‑26, while the USA beat Italy 46‑26 and Canada claimed bronze over Mexico.
