Manchester Super Giants retain Buttler and Ecclestone

Manchester Originals have rebranded as Manchester Super Giants ahead of the 2026 Hundred season, retaining England stars Jos Buttler and Sophie Ecclestone. The franchise also kept Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad and former South Africa batter Heinrich Klaasen, building a core around proven international talent.

The name change follows RPSG Group's acquisition of a 70% stake in the team. RPSG already owns Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and Durban's Super Giants in South Africa's SA20, aligning Manchester with a global franchise brand. The new badge features an elephant, a nod to RPSG's Lucknow identity.

Under their previous name, Manchester Originals never won the Hundred, though the men's side reached finals in 2022 and 2023. New additions include former Australia captain Meg Lanning, India's Smriti Mandhana, and England spinner Liam Dawson, all with prior Hundred experience elsewhere. The franchise aims to finally secure its first title.
