Since 2025, all eight teams have been taken over by new owners, with half linked to IPL franchises. Todd Boehly now owns 49% of Trent Rockets, joining a growing list of investors. The influx has triggered changes to team names, badges and kits.

The Northern Superchargers have become Sun Risers Leeds, the Oval Invincibles are now MI London and Manchester Originals are Manchester Super Giants. These teams have updated badges and kits. Southern Brave swapped green and black for blue and red; MI London switched to blue and gold to match Mumbai Indians; London Spirit, Sun Risers Leeds and Manchester Super Giants all refreshed their colours.

The 2026 edition opens with a women's match at The Oval between MI London and Sunrisers Leeds at 14:45 BST on 21 July. The men’s fixture follows later that evening. Group play continues until 12 August, followed by eliminators on 14 August and a double‑header final on 16 August at Lord’s.

Auction highlights include £460,000 Harry Brook signing for Sunrisers Leeds and James Coles joining London Spirit for £390,000. BBC will broadcast 16 live matches on BBC Two and the iPlayer, with commentary on BBC Sounds and coverage by Isa Guha, Alex Hartley and Amber Sandhu.
