Robert MacIntyre is targeting improved iron play and a successful title defence at the Scottish Open as the new father looks to build on a strong start to 2025. The world number 12 will return to East Lothian's The Renaissance Club in July, where he claimed his maiden home victory last year after losing to Rory McIlroy in a playoff in 2023.

The Oban golfer believes his overall game is in better shape than 12 months ago, with driving and putting at career-best levels. However, iron play has suffered, and he acknowledges that finding consistency in that "middle part" of his game would make him a serious contender across the three majors looming this summer.

Parenthood has shifted MacIntyre's priorities, with making the PGA Tour Finals at East Lake in August now a primary goal. "Life's completely changed," he explained. "It's about putting things in perspective and trying to manage it as best I can."

The 29-year-old also addressed his Masters outburst, where a middle-finger gesture and club-slamming incident drew criticism. "I wear my heart on my sleeve," he said. "The way I was brought up, it's a fight for everything, and sometimes I get hot. It's not going to change."
