Scotland's Robert MacIntyre has brushed off criticism of his emotional outburst at the Masters, where he missed the cut after shooting rounds of 80 and 71. The Ryder Cup winner directed a middle-finger gesture at the 15th green after a quadruple bogey and was subsequently reprimanded by Augusta National officials for his behavior.

Despite the controversy, MacIntyre showed resilience at the RBC Heritage, carding a five-under 66 in the first round. The 29-year-old from Oban acknowledged his emotional display wasn't ideal but maintains he wears his heart on his sleeve. He's working with a mental coach back home to better control his emotions on the course.

MacIntyre stopped short of apologizing but emphasized his support system of family and friends who keep him grounded. After six birdies and one bogey at Harbour Town, he feels his game is in good shape. The Scot is seeking his third PGA Tour victory and believes his aggressive driving and wedge play position him well for the tournament ahead.
