Billy Loughnane produced a masterful ride on Bow Echo to win the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, securing his first Classic victory in spectacular style. Nearly 18,000 spectators watched the Night Of Thunder colt unleash a devastating late burst, sweeping past Gstaad to claim the opening Classic of the British Flat racing season.

The competitive 14-horse field raced on good to firm ground, with Gstaad and Bow Echo battling fiercely on opposite sides of the mile-long course. They appeared destined for a photo finish until Bow Echo found another gear, pulling clear to justify his reputation as an unbeaten two-year-old who had always shown tremendous potential.

Trainer Geoff Boughey has now conquered both Guineas races, having previously won the 1,000 Guineas with Cachet in 2022. He told ITV Sport: "His work has been incredibly good and I said quite a lot running up to it and it's lucky he's as good as what we thought he was." The victory confirmed Bow Echo as one of the leading three-year-olds in training.
