Leinster survive Toulon scare to reach Champions Cup final

Leinster edged past Toulon 29‑25 at the Aviva Stadium to book their fourth Champions Cup final in five seasons. After trailing by 18 points with just 11 minutes left, the French side sparked a late rally, but Irish back‑row Jack Conan, flanker Josh van der Flier, centre Garry Ringrose and lock Caelan Doris had already built a cushion.

Conan gave Leinster the lead in the 13th minute after a Gibson‑Park pass. Henshaw exited with a knock and a Gibson‑Park try was ruled out, while Andrew Porter’s 35th‑minute sin‑bin and Harry Byrne’s yellow left the hosts with 13 men. Van der Flier, Ringrose and Doris responded, Doris’ 66th‑minute try sealing the victory.

The win ends a seven‑year title drought; Leinster last lifted the cup in 2018. Leo Cullen’s side now await the winner of Sunday’s Bordeaux‑Begles versus Bath clash to determine their opponent in Bilbao three weeks hence. Toulon, who had dispatched Glasgow in the quarters, will rue their late surge, having scored only after the 75th minute.

Leinster’s composure under pressure restores confidence after last season’s semi‑final shock and three consecutive final defeats, positioning them as serious contenders for a fifth European crown.
