Leigh Leopards secured a 30-16 victory over Huddersfield Giants in Super League action, with 34-year-old Charnley scoring a brace in 11 second-half minutes. His impressive performance effectively knocked the stuffing out of the Giants, doubling Leigh's lead to 20 points with 11 minutes remaining. Jacob Gagai grabbed a late consolation try for Huddersfield, finishing a burst from halfway down the left flank just before the final whistle.

The win represents progress for Leigh, who started the season strongly with a victory over Leeds but then won only one of their next six games. A narrow win over Toulouse at the end of March seems to have ignited belief, with the Leopards now having won three of their last four matches. Victory never looked in doubt after Towse scored early on the left flank, though Huddersfield disputed several referee decisions that went against them throughout the match.

Charnley's standout performance came exactly 16 years to the day after his first senior appearance in 2010. The veteran winger showcased all his skill with a brilliant one-handed finish tight against the touchline, followed by a muscular charge through Niall Evalds' defenses. His two moves him closer to Leeds' Hall who has four tries in seven appearances this season. Leigh now sits comfortably in the middle of the table with their improving form continuing to build momentum.
