Larne manager Gary Haveron expressed pride in his players despite a 4-0 defeat to Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League second qualifying round first leg. The Inver Reds conceded a penalty converted by Bruno Duarte in the first half, with Duarte adding another goal after the break. Vasilije Kostov and Muhammed Cham also scored for the Serbian club, effectively sealing the tie.

Haveron acknowledged the significant difference in quality between the teams, describing Red Star as a "different level." He felt his team frustrated their opponents for periods, particularly in the first half, but admitted they were caught out chasing the game in the second half. He emphasized the valuable learning experience for the club, coaching staff, and players.

Larne will travel to Belgrade for the second leg next Wednesday. Haveron believes the Champions League is "a step too far" for his team but is optimistic about their prospects in the Europa or Conference League qualifiers, where he feels they can be more competitive and build on previous group stage experiences.
