Wales centre Joe Hawkins is determined to make the 2027 World Cup after missing the 2023 tournament due to the 25-cap rule. The rule prevented him from playing for Wales while at Exeter, but he has since returned to the national side with Scarlets. Hawkins, 24, has formed a strong partnership with Eddie James, becoming Wales' first-choice centre pairing.
With the World Cup approaching, Hawkins says the intensity is rising as players compete for positions. He enjoys his role as a creative inside centre, working closely with attack coach Matt Sherratt. Hawkins also appreciates his time at Exeter, which helped him grow as a player.
Wales have at least 12 matches before the tournament, starting with the Nations Championship against Japan.
