Golf Friends Defy 17M-to-1 Odds With Dual Aces

Long-time golfing partners Rob Davis, 67, and David Lewis, 64, defied astronomical odds by both making holes-in-one on the same hole during their round at Royal Liverpool Golf Club. The friends, who have played together for over 30 years, achieved the remarkable feat on the 15th hole, a 107-yard par-three. The probability of two players acing the same hole in the same round stands at an incredible 17 million to 1.

Davis holed his first ace with a pitching wedge, unaware his ball had hit the flag due to the green's topography. Moments later, Lewis used the same club for what was his second career hole-in-one, approximately 12 years after his first. "We couldn't see the base of the pin," Davis explained. Their playing partners instructed them to walk to the hole together where they discovered both balls resting in the cup.

The extraordinary occurrence left both golfers in a state of disbelief. "Seeing both balls in there was surreal. We just shook hands and tried to take it all in," Davis recalled. While unlikely to impact their golf season standings, the rare achievement will undoubtedly become a legendary story among their circle of friends and fellow golfers at Royal Liverpool.
