Great Britain's wheelchair curling mixed team suffered their fourth consecutive defeat at the Winter Paralympics, losing 8-6 to Italy in Cortina. The British side now sit second-bottom in the standings after a disappointing round-robin performance that leaves their medal hopes hanging by a thread. Defending Paralympic champions China await in Wednesday's crucial matchups.

Only the top four of 10 competing nations will advance to the semi-finals, and Great Britain's latest setback means they can at best achieve four wins in the round-robin phase. That tally has already been reached by four other teams. For the second time in the competition, Great Britain switched their lineup during the match, with alternate Graeme Stewart replacing Austin McKenzie at halftime.

The decisive moment came in the sixth end when Italian skip Egidio Marchese delivered a superb final stone to score three points, moving his side into an 8-5 lead with two ends remaining. Great Britain, now with one win and five defeats from six matches, have three round-robin games left, including back-to-back matches against China and Latvia on Wednesday.
