CJ Fulton is set to make his first Ireland appearance in over two years after being named in a 13-man squad for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2029 pre-qualifiers. The 23-year-old guard, who last played for Ireland in August 2023, has been away due to college commitments in the United States with Lafayette and Charleston Cougars.

Fulton's return comes after a whirlwind professional journey. He played two summer league games for the Minnesota Timberwolves before signing a pro deal in September, only to be waived to the Iowa Wolves of the G-League. Ireland head coach Michael Bree expressed excitement about Fulton's inclusion, praising his stellar college career and the hard work that earned him an NBA contract.

The squad announcement also features several new faces including uncapped Eoin Nelson, Sean Fitzpatrick, and America-born Eli Brooks, who qualifies through his Belfast-born grandfather. With recent defeats to Luxembourg and North Macedonia, Ireland faces crucial matches against Azerbaijan on February 27 and Luxembourg again on March 2 in Dublin. The three group winners and best second-placed team will advance to the second round of pre-qualifiers.

Quick Fact: Fulton signed a professional deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves in September 2025.
