F1 Cars Will Feel 'Completely Different' at Silverstone, Hamilton Warns

Lewis Hamilton predicts the iconic Silverstone circuit will feel drastically altered at this year's British Grand Prix. New regulations mean the cars will be significantly "energy starved" through the track's demanding high-speed corners like Copse and Becketts. Drivers will experience reduced engine power, forcing them to downshift in sections where full throttle was standard.

This unique power deficit arises from the near 50-50 split between internal combustion and electrical power. As the batteries deplete before key corner sequences end, cars will rely solely on their engines, losing substantial electrical deployment. Hamilton noted this could exacerbate Ferrari's performance gap to Mercedes, potentially doubling it compared to recent races.

While some drivers, like George Russell, see potential for more interesting racing due to altered performance characteristics, others express concern. Max Verstappen likened the situation to feeling like "kids and clowns." The FIA's decision against reinstating straight-line mode for safety reasons, despite team support, contributes to the challenge. The impact on performance and driver experience will be a defining factor at Silverstone.
