The big name in the Athletics team is World outdoor silver medallist Kate O'Connor. Heptathlete O'Connor will head to her third Commonwealth Games after a stellar 2025 in which she won four medals including a gold at the World University Games and bronze at the European Indoor Championships. In taking silver at the World Championships in Tokyo, the Newry-born athlete set a new Irish record of 6714 points and five personal bests. She will be joined in the heptathlon by Anna McCauley, who finished sixth in 2022 and more recently second in the UK Athletics Championship.

The 12-strong boxing squad includes seasoned fighters like Daniel Wiffen, Olympic 800m gold medallist, and debutants such as Kaci Rock and Jon McConnell. Riders Erin Creighton, Emma Jeffers, and Esther Wong bring cycling experience, while Rhys McClenaghan headlines a four-strong artistic gymnastics team.

Netball’s squad, captained by Michelle Magee, and the swimming contingent of 15 athletes—led by Wiffen—round out the team. Across track, field, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, netball, and swimming, NI athletes combine veteran experience with fresh talent for a competitive Glasgow push.
