Josh Kerr broke the 27‑year‑old mile world record in London with a stunning 3:42.66, and now heads back to his home Games to chase a first medal for Team Scotland.

Kadeena Cox – the 35‑year‑old para‑cyclist who missed two Games with injury – will compete in the expanded C4‑5 event at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, aiming for another podium finish.

Chad le Clos is 34, has 18 medals (12 won in Glasgow 2014), and will llaw 50m and 100m butterfly. He could join Seine Stowers (18, 4 golds) and Rhys Mc Clenaghan (26, pommel‑horse Olympic champion) as the Games’ most decorated athletes.
