Cameron Norrie has advanced to the Canadian Open last 32 after defeating Ignacio Buse in straight sets. The British number two secured a 6-3 6-3 victory in a match lasting one hour and 29 minutes.

This win marks an end to Norrie's six-match losing streak, following his semi-final appearance at the Los Cabos Open last week. He had previously beaten Camilo Ugo Carabelli in his opening match in Montreal.

Norrie's next opponent will be Australian world number seven, Alex de Minaur. De Minaur, who recently married British player Katie Boulter, is preparing for the US Open. In their match, Norrie broke Buse's serve early and maintained his advantage to win the first set. Although Buse managed to break back in the second set, Norrie immediately responded, saving crucial break points to ultimately secure the win on his second match point. Ignacio Buse required a medical timeout during the contest.
