British Wimbledon Quarter-Finalists Open Era Quiz

BBC Sport has launched an interactive quiz challenging tennis fans to identify the 10 British players who have reached a Wimbledon singles quarter-final since the Open era began in 1968. The list spans more than five decades of British tennis history, from the golden age of Virginia Wade — who claimed the women's title in 1977 — through the serve-and-volley era of Greg Rusedski and Tim Henman, to Andy Murray's twin championships in 2013 and 2016.

Murray stands alone as the only British man to win the title in the Open era, while Wade remains the last British woman to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish. Henman reached four semi-finals between 1998 and 2002, becoming the face of British hope during the tournament's middle Sunday traditions. Rusedski's run to the 1997 final, where he fell to Goran Ivanisevic, marked the closest a British man came before Murray's breakthrough.

The quiz highlights a striking drought: only Emma Raducanu (2021 US Open champion) and Katie Boulter have cracked the women's last eight since Wade, while Cameron Norrie's 2022 semi-final run ended a nine-year wait for a British man beyond the quarters. With Murray retired and Raducanu battling form and fitness, the next addition to this exclusive club remains uncertain.
