England cricketer Ben Duckett has been fined £1,100 after admitting to speeding at 93mph in his Land Rover Defender on the A50 near Stoke-on-Trent. The 31-year-old Nottinghamshire batter triggered a police speed gun while breaking the 70mph limit at 13:30 BST on 24 August, just hours before a match in The Hundred.

Magistrate Michelle Foster imposed a £700 fine, four penalty points on Duckett's licence, and ordered him to pay £120 in costs plus a £280 victim surcharge at Cannock Magistrates' Court. Staffordshire Police opted for criminal prosecution rather than an out-of-court fine due to the high speed involved. Duckett entered his guilty plea online and will receive instructions for settling the court bill.

This incident comes as Duckett attempts to secure his place in the England side, having recently withdrawn from the Indian Premier League to focus on County Championship cricket for Nottinghamshire. The left-handed batter has struggled for form, managing only one half-century in 16 innings across all formats this winter, and scored 202 runs in 10 Test innings during the Ashes with a top score of 42.
