Athlos Expands to London with Two-Day Format

The all-female track series Athlos will stage its London debut in September 2026, expanding to a two-day competition at StoneX Stadium. Founded by Alexis Ohanian, the league offers a $2.1m prize pot and unprecedented athlete equity, aiming to become the "Formula 1 of track and field." American stars like Sha'Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas are confirmed for the London and New York meets.

Ohanian's vision includes rewarding athletes as partners, a contrast to recent tennis prize money protests. Harvard graduate and Olympic champion Gabby Thomas emphasized the rarity of equity in the sport, stating it aligns athletes' success with the league's. The 2025 New York meet already showcased a festival atmosphere, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns presented by Serena Williams.

Seven disciplines will be contested in both cities, with athletes earning up to $155,000 total for sweeping both events. Ohanian's ultimate goal is a worldwide, season-long league, a conversation already underway with World Athletics. This model directly addresses the narrative that professional track offers no financial future, aiming to inspire the next generation.
