Wakefield Trinity reached their first Super League semi-final with a dominant 26-16 victory over Leigh Leopards in the play-off eliminator. Tries from Tyson Smoothy, Tom Johnstone, Isaiah Vagana and Caius Faatili, plus five goals from Max Jowitt, proved decisive for Daryl Powell's side. They will face either Leeds Rhinos or Wigan Warriors next week.

Leigh threatened briefly when David Armstrong scored just before half-time, but Trinity controlled the second half. The dismissal of Wakefield forward Emre Guler for a punch did not alter the outcome, although tries from Lachlan Lam and Innes Senior reduced the deficit late on. This was Wakefield's fourth appearance in the play-offs, but their first time progressing beyond the eliminator.

Max Jowitt eased nerves with an early penalty before Smoothy's 40/20 set up his try from dummy half. Johnstone produced a brilliant flying finish, confirmed by video review, and Vagana scythed through Leigh's defence after the break. Faatili's try seemed to seal the win before Guler's red card gave Leigh hope, but Jowitt's penalty for his 500th Super League point secured the result.

Daryl Powell praised his team's composure, while Adrian Lam lamented Leigh's errors. The match was played in a tense environment, with Powell questioning the referee's decision on Guler's sending-off.
