England's Adam Peaty has qualified for the men's 50m breaststroke final at the Commonwealth Games, giving him a chance to defend his title. The 31-year-old swimmer finished second in his semi-final with a time of 26.82 seconds, securing him a spot as the third fastest qualifier.

Peaty, a world record holder, will face South Africa's Michael Houlie, who was the fastest qualifier at 26.61 seconds, in the final on Monday at 20:07 BST. This comes after Peaty secured a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke on Saturday.

Reflecting on his performance, Peaty stated, "I think I've still got a little bit more to grow. I can't change anything obviously, so we have to get over it." He acknowledged the pressure he placed on himself, having not competed in a championship for two years, and emphasized the importance of competitive performance as a skill. His teammate, Max Morgan, was eliminated in the same semi-final race.
