Two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas is set to make her London City Lionesses debut against Manchester United when the 2026-27 Women's Super League season kicks off on Friday, 4 September (19:00 BST). The ambitious side, managed by Eder Maestre, have made eight signings including former United goalkeeper Mary Earps, and face a United team hoping to bounce back after missing Champions League qualification.

The BBC will broadcast 25 matches, beginning with eight-time champions Chelsea hosting Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on 5 September. The Blues will play all home league matches at the main stadium this year, ending a nine-year stay at Kingsmeadow. Defending champions Manchester City start at home against promoted Birmingham City, while Tottenham host West Ham. The league expands to 14 teams with Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace also promoted.

Key early fixtures include Chelsea vs Arsenal on 27 September and Arsenal at Manchester City on 4 October. BBC will also show United's derby matches against Liverpool and Manchester City. The schedule features more varied kick-off times including Friday evenings and Saturday lunchtimes. BBC will also cover the new Players Cup final and Women's Champions League matches throughout the season.

The campaign culminates with the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil. United face a brutal start against London City, Chelsea, and Arsenal in their first three games, while Manchester City avoid top rivals until October. Charlton Athletic play their first ever WSL home fixture, and Birmingham vs Crystal Palace – last season's WSL 2 top two – could be pivotal.
