West Brom Claim Full Compliance Amid P&S Breach Rumours

West Bromwich Albion said it has met the EFL’s profitability and sustainability rules, despite media speculation of a breach. The club will cooperate with the Club Financial Reporting Unit in a process that could lead to a points deduction.

The EFL requires clubs to submit accounts by 31 December, after which the CFRU issues a compliance report. A breach of up to £2m triggers a three‑point penalty; up to £4m invites a four‑point deduction. Mitigation may return one point if losses fall season on season.

West Brom’s chairman, Shilen Patel, has invested tens of millions to clear debts left by the former owner. A sanction would undermine the club’s survival fight, especially after recent defeats saw the gap to the relegation zone shrink to two points.

With only four games left and an appeal option, the club hopes to resolve the matter before the Championship season ends on 2 May. The outcome will decide whether West Brom can avoid a points deduction that could spell relegation.
