UEFA has threatened legal action over Gianni Infantino's scrapped plans to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors.

Gianni Infantino's leadership had already faced scrutiny from football's governing bodies across Europe, North and Central America and the Caribbean, with UEFA and Concacaf issuing statements criticizing the plans.

The plan involved creating a commercial subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), that would allow external investors to buy minority, non‑controlling stakes. On Monday, Wales became the first nation to publicly withdraw support for Gianni Infantino's bid to continue as FIFA president. UEFA’s letter to Gianni Infantino states it is actively considering legal action, arbitration, or regulatory complaints related to the FFE proposal.

UEFA also demands immediate steps to identify, locate and preserve all documents and electronically stored information in FIFA’s possession, superseding routine deletion policies.
