Real Betis are in advanced talks with AZ Alkmaar over a 20m euros deal to sign Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott. The 24-year-old forward, who began his career at Tottenham, joined Alkmaar in July 2024 after a loan spell at Excelsior Rotterdam. Parrott enjoyed a strong start to last season, scoring 10 goals in his first seven appearances before a knee ligament injury in August ruled him out until October.

He finished the Dutch league campaign with 16 goals in 28 games and played a key role in helping the Republic of Ireland secure World Cup playoff qualification. In November 2024, he scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Portugal and followed that with a hat-trick, including a 96th-minute winner, against Hungary, becoming the first Irish player to score a competitive treble since Robbie Keane in 2014. With 37 caps, Parrott is expected to remain central to Heimir Hallgrimsson's plans for the upcoming Nations League.

Real Betis, who finished fifth in La Liga in 2025-26, will compete in next season's Champions League.
