Holders St Mirren have been drawn away to Rangers in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup. Other all top-flight ties include Scottish champions Celtic visiting Dundee United and Aberdeen hosting Dundee. Additionally, Kilmarnock will host Ayr United in an Ayrshire derby.

One side outwith the Premiership remains after second-tier Dunfermline Athletic were drawn at home to League 1 side Ross County. Dunfermline qualified after a late Chris Kane penalty secured a win away to St Mirren, allowing them to progress as one of the three best runners-up.

Although St Mirren topped their group on goal difference, the defeat meant they missed out on being seeded. Manager Craig Mc Leish expressed disappointment that the draw was not in their favor. Conversely, Dunfermline head coach Neil Lennon praised his team's victory but warned against taking Ross County for granted.

The second round ties will be played on the weekend of 15/16 August.
