The EFL confirmed it's treating the matter as potential misconduct under regulations introduced after Leeds' 2019 spying scandal.

The incident highlights how training ground security varies dramatically across football's tiers. While top Premier League clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal have 3,000 metres of security fencing and dedicated security teams, Boro's facility at Rockliffe is open to the public with only a hedgerow separating pitches from the golf course. Boro photographer allegedly matched the individual to a profile on the Saints website.

This comes five years after Leeds were fined £200,000 for similar conduct. The EFL's rule 127 prohibits observing opponents' training within 72 hours of matches.
