Falkirk goalkeeper Scott Bain delivered a man-of-the-match performance with eight excellent saves in a 1-1 draw against Dundee United, potentially forcing his way into new Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli's first Nations League squad. With Craig Gordon retired and Angus Gunn and Liam Kelly lacking recent first-team minutes, the 34-year-old Bain appears a strong candidate for recall. He denied Kevin Ciubotaru, Lyall Cameron, Zidane Iqbal, and Neil Farrugia as Falkirk faced 27 shots, nine on target.

Manager John Mc Glynn praised Bain's composure and ability to play from the back, stating he "ticks all the boxes." Dundee United assistant Lee Sharp agreed Bain enhanced his international prospects. Bain has four caps since his 2018 debut under Alex Mc Leish, last playing against Ivory Coast in March. He has kept 10 clean sheets in 44 games for Falkirk, adding to 21 in 124 games at Dundee and 39 in 78 for Celtic.

After a mistake at Celtic Park last week, Bain returned to top form, strengthening his case for a new lease of international life under Pocognoli.
