Australia striker Sam Kerr has completed her move to Gotham FC, signing a four-year contract following her departure from Chelsea. The 32-year-old leaves as Chelsea's all-time Women's Super League top scorer with 116 goals in 158 appearances. She netted the winning goal in her final match against Manchester United before her contract expired in May.

Kerr originally played for Gotham FC between 2015 and 2017 when they were known as Sky Blue FC. During her Chelsea spell from January 2020, she won five WSL titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups and the Community Shield. She finished level with Fran Kirby as the club's all-competitions top scorer for the WSL era and placed second in the 2023 Ballon d'Or voting after scoring 29 goals in 38 appearances.

An ACL injury in January 2024 sidelined Kerr for over 18 months, delaying her return until the second half of this season. While recovering, she married Kristie Mewis and welcomed their son in May 2023. Kerr arrives back in America as the NWSL's all-time leading scorer and a three-time Golden Boot winner.

Her return to Gotham FC represents a significant signing for the club as they build toward competing for trophies. Kerr brings proven pedigree after establishing herself among the world's elite strikers during her Chelsea years.
