Colombia confirmed its 26‑man roster for the 2026 World Cup, slotting veteran captain James Rodriguez among the midfielders. The 34‑year‑old arrives after a season marred by illness that saw him feature in only two of Minnesota United’s 15 MLS games, totaling 194 minutes. His recent hospitalisation for severe dehydration sparked unfounded rhabdomyolysis rumours, which his club denied, and he remains a fan favourite.

Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz also earned a spot, giving Colombia a pace option on the flanks. The South American side returns after missing Qatar 2022, aiming to improve on its 1998 runner‑up legacy. Group K opens on 17 June versus debutants Uzbekistan, followed by DR Congo and Portugal. The group also features a high‑profile clash with Portugal, with friendlies against Costa Rica and Jordan scheduled in Bogotá.

Other call‑ups include Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma, former Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina, and defenders Yerry Mina and Davinson Sanchez. Goalkeepers Camilo Vargas, Alvaro Montero and Ospina complete the roster. The selections reflect a blend of European experience and MLS talent, giving Colombia depth as it prepares for its seventh World Cup appearance. Their experience will be tested in tight matches.
