Northampton Town have sacked manager Kevin Nolan after a disastrous run of just one win in 16 League One matches. The Cobblers sit 23rd in the table, three points from safety, with the second-lowest goal tally in the division at 31 in 36 games. Nolan's final match ended in a 1-0 defeat at AFC Wimbledon.

Technical director Colin Calderwood steps in as interim boss, assisted by former manager Ian Sampson. Chairman Kelvin Thomas thanked Nolan for keeping the club up last season but said recent performances forced the change. This marks the 10th managerial change in League One this season out of 24 clubs.

The 43-year-old former West Ham coach took over in December 2024 after Jon Brady's departure. Despite a strong first half of the season, Northampton's form collapsed post-Christmas, going nine games without a win. They were also knocked out of the EFL Trophy at the semi-final stage last week.
