Nigel James: Proud Father as Both Children Earn England Honours

Nigel James still finds it hard to believe what his children have accomplished. The veteran coach, who has spent 24 years developing young talent in south-west London, now watches both Lauren and Reece James represent England at senior level - a first for brother and sister combinations in the modern era.

Reece James is set to start at right back when England's World Cup campaign begins on Thursday. Nigel's Wimbledon academy has produced Premier League-bound Jack Rudoni and even sent two players to Cambridge and Oxford universities. The facility operates under the Play Their Way initiative backed by Sport England.

Phil Smith, executive director for the sporting system, praised Nigel's approach: fun first, child first philosophy. This method addresses concerns that half of British children don't play enough sport and many who do aren't enjoying it.

Nigel plans to travel to the United States for England's knockout matches. When asked about his prediction, he simply said: Win. All the way. It's coming home.

The James family's story demonstrates how grassroots coaching can reach the highest levels while maintaining focus on player development beyond just football skills.
