Neil Lennon's Dunfermline Cup Final Dream

Neil Lennon has guided Dunfermline Athletic to their first Scottish Cup final in 19 years, defeating Falkirk 4-3 on penalties after a tense semi-final at Hampden Park. The 52-year-old manager, who previously led Celtic to a domestic treble in 2019, described reaching the final as being 'up there with anything' in his managerial career.

The victory marks another milestone in Lennon's remarkable second spell in Scottish football. Appointed last March on a short-term deal to save Dunfermline from relegation, he's now on the brink of leading them back to the Premiership via the play-offs while simultaneously competing for cup glory. His young side have already defeated Hibernian and Aberdeen en route to the final.

With the final against either Celtic or St Mirren set for May 23, Lennon's achievement is particularly poignant given his personal connection to Scottish football. The former Celtic captain lost his father recently and revealed he was thinking of him during the decisive penalty shootout. Dunfermline must quickly refocus for their upcoming Championship fixture against St Johnstone as they chase third place.
