Manchester United have completed the signing of Cameroon midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a deal worth an initial £65m, with a potential £5m in add-ons. The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with an option for a further year. United moved for Baleba after bolstering their midfield with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans earlier in the summer.

Baleba, who joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, made 112 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring four times. He is currently sidelined with an ankle injury sustained during Brighton's pre-season camp in Austria. In a farewell message, Baleba thanked Brighton fans for their support, particularly recalling a difficult night against Aston Villa.

The move takes United's summer spending to £153m as they prepare for a return to the Champions League. Captain Bruno Fernandes praised Baleba's potential, stating he can improve the squad and bring different qualities. United's interest was rekindled after an earlier attempt last year was deterred by Brighton's £100m+ valuation.
