The inquest into the death of footballer Maddy Cusack, found unconscious at her home in September 2023, has been adjourned. Assistant coroner Ms Cartwright requested further evidence, including medical records and club communications, from Sheffield United.

This decision follows testimony from Cusack's former partner, Grace Riglar, who stated Cusack was anxious about manager Jonathan Morgan joining the club after a previous experience at Leicester City. Morgan, however, told the inquest he had no concerns and was pleased to offer Cusack a full-time contract. He admitted to the FA that Cusack was "generally a liar" and had omitted information regarding his behaviour, despite having previously released her as a player at Leicester.

The inquest was previously informed that Cusack's medical records from her time at Sheffield United were lost. Ms Cartwright expressed regret for the delay to Cusack's family, noting the inquest would now resume and is expected to last five days. Witnesses, including the club doctor and physio, are expected to be recalled.
