Derry City interim manager Mark Connolly has confirmed that James McClean remains employed by the club despite ongoing speculation over his future. McClean, a former Republic of Ireland international, attended an open training session on Tuesday amid reports the club is attempting to find a settlement. Connolly noted that McClean is one of 20-odd players and that the club is moving forward.

The 37-year-old returned to Derry from Wrexham in January on a multi-year deal but his second stint has been disappointing. Derry are currently sixth in the table, 21 points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers, following a challenging season that has seen McClean's appearances shrink and dissatisfaction grow on both sides.
