Huddersfield Town has appointed Liam Manning as its new head coach on a long-term contract, replacing the sacked Lee Grant just three days after his dismissal. Manning, 40, arrives with a reputation for developing young players and achieving promotion from League One, having previously led MK Dons and Oxford United into the play-offs.

Grant was dismissed with the Terriers sixth in League One, despite being only eight months into a three-year deal. Manning's last job at Norwich City lasted just five months, ending in November when the Canaries were second from bottom in the Championship. His prior success at Bristol City, where he reached the play-offs last season, makes this an ambitious appointment.

Manning takes over an Accu Stadium squad he describes as "talented and capable," with immediate focus on Saturday's crucial League One fixture against promotion rivals Bradford City. Sporting director Chris Markham cited Manning's "progressive and pragmatic" approach as key, signaling a shift in strategy as Huddersfield aims to climb the table.
