Huddersfield Town manager Liam Manning has been granted compassionate leave for the remainder of the season. The League One club stated Manning made them aware of ongoing personal matters following the tragic passing of his newborn son Theo in October 2024. Manning, 40, previously took a short leave of absence when Theo died in 2024.

Coaches Martin Drury and Jon Stead will manage the team for the rest of the campaign. The club expressed full support for Manning, his wife Fran, their son Isaac, and the entire family, promising regular contact and requesting privacy. Manning led Bristol City into the Championship play-offs last season before leaving in June 2025 to join Norwich City, where his spell ended after just 17 games.

He replaced Lee Grant as Huddersfield manager in January. The Terriers sit ninth in League One and face play-off hopefuls Reading on Friday, 3 April.
