Guardiola: Embracing Cultures Creates Better Society

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has called for greater cultural acceptance, stating society would improve by embracing other cultures. The comments came in response to Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's controversial remarks about immigration and colonization.

Ratcliffe, who later apologized for offending people while maintaining that open debate was needed, had claimed the UK had been "colonised by immigrants." Guardiola, speaking before City's FA Cup match against Salford, emphasized that people move for better opportunities, not by choice. "The more we embrace other cultures, truly embrace it, then we will have a better society - I do not have any doubts about that," the Spaniard said.

The 55-year-old manager, who has lived and worked across Spain, Italy, Qatar, Mexico, Germany and England, highlighted the global nature of immigration issues. "We treat immigrants or people that come from other countries like they are the ones causing problems for our country," Guardiola noted, adding that birthplace should not determine a person's worth or opportunities.
