Former Scotland international Alan Brazil revealed he nearly died during a recent liver transplant operation. The 66-year-old broadcaster said his heart stopped while undergoing the eight-hour procedure at Addenbrooke's Hospital, but restarted without medical intervention.

Brazil, who played for Ipswich Town, Manchester United and Tottenham during his career, described receiving an urgent call from doctors. He finished work at 9:45 PM and was told to rush to hospital immediately, going under the knife that same afternoon.

The ex-striker spent months seeing specialists before doctors determined he needed a transplant. Brazil credited the medical team for saving his life, saying he feels 'very, very lucky to be here' after the harrowing experience.

He confirmed he is recovering and hopes to return to broadcasting duties in the coming weeks, though he acknowledges he is still not fully recovered from the major surgery.
