Ferran Torres has been granted permission to skip Barcelona training as his move to Paris St‑Germain (PSG) nears completion. The 26‑year‑old, who scored the extra‑time winner against Argentina to secure Spain’s second World Cup, will not return to the Catalan club on Wednesday as negotiations advance.

The transfer, potentially worth £40m, comes as Torres has one year left on his Barcelona contract and has openly discussed the possibility of leaving. During a U.S. media tour after Spain’s triumph, he said, “I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football you never know.” When asked about PSG links, he added, “Every time these teams want you it’s a good thing.”

PSG, managed by former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique, won the Champions League in the past two seasons. The French side could also lose Bradley Barcola, who is sought by Liverpool. Torres, who joined Barcelona in 2022 after two years at Manchester City, has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain.
