Republic of Ireland international Emily Murphy is on the verge of joining Women’s Super League club Brighton. The 23‑year‑old was Newcastle’s top‑scorer last season, netting 6 goals and providing four assists in 15 starts, and has a year left on her contract. Newcastle expects a club‑record fee once the deal is completed. Murphy has prior WSL experience with Birmingham City and Chelsea and spells in the United States, and has become a regular for the Republic of Ireland, starting five of their six Women’s World Cup qualifying matches in 2024.
