WSL 2 side Newcastle United have secured the signing of Scotland forward Martha Thomas from Tottenham for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old striker joins Newcastle on a two-year contract, with an option for an additional 12 months. Thomas brings considerable Women's Super League experience, having previously played for Manchester United and West Ham, and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Liverpool.

During her three years at Spurs, Thomas netted 13 goals in 66 appearances. She expressed her excitement about joining Newcastle, stating, "I'm really excited - it's a really big club to play for. I want to compete [with] and play for the best teams." She also highlighted the importance of team culture and her desire to elevate standards.

Newcastle, who finished sixth in WSL 2 last season, have been active in the transfer market, signing nine players this summer. This includes replacing their leading scorer, Emily Murphy, who departed for Brighton. Manager Tanya Oxtoby praised Thomas, describing her as "a proven striker both in the WSL and internationally" and noting her physicality, work-rate, and goal-scoring ability.
