Danny Rohl, 37, has confirmed his move from Rangers to Red Bull Salzburg in June was the right decision. After eight months at Ibrox where he nearly engineered a title turnaround before four defeats in five games left them third, Rohl received a call from Salzburg sporting director Marcus Mann while on holiday in Hawaii. "I was not prepared for this change," he admits, describing early morning calls across a 12-hour time difference. Rohl, who began his coaching career at RB Leipzig under Ralph Hassenhuttl, joins a club that won 10 consecutive Austrian titles but has finished third the past three seasons.

He aims to win silverware and develop talent like alumni Erling Haaland, Karim Adeyemi, and Dominik Szoboszlai. Salzburg recently progressed in the Europa League via a 3-3 comeback against Pafos and face Mjallby next. Rohl appreciates Salzburg's relative anonymity compared to Glasgow's intensity: "Here you are a part of the city... you have dinner and you are a little undercover." His family remains in Leipzig, a few hours away.
