Italy international Daniel Maldini has had his driving licence suspended after he was found to be over the legal alcohol limit following a car crash in Milan. Maldini, son of Italy and AC Milan legend Paolo and grandson of Cesare, suffered minor injuries after his Porsche Carrera 4 collided with another vehicle early Sunday. He had scored the winning goal for Cagliari against Atalanta hours earlier.

Milan police confirmed the 24-year-old was breathalysed at the scene and his licence confiscated after a positive result. He was taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Reports say initial readings were 0.91 g/l and 0.89 g/l, above Italy's 0.5 g/l limit.

Cagliari said Maldini underwent toxicological screening and all tests returned negative. He will join training on Monday. Maldini became the third generation of his family to play for Italy in 2024 and has six caps.
