Crystal Palace is reportedly close to signing defender Takehiro Tomiyasu on a free transfer after a successful trial. The Premier League club is also considering a move for winger Solly March, who departed Brighton.

Tomiyasu, a Japan international, previously played in the Premier League and is understood to be a key target for Palace ahead of the new season. Head coach Pierre Sage will decide on the 27-year-old defender's signing, viewing him as a potential option for the left side of a three-man central defense. Despite recent knee issues, Palace is confident in Tomiyasu's abilities but wants to ensure his fitness.

March, 32, has been recommended to Palace, with the potential deal discussed internally. Palace aims to bolster its defense, especially after Maxence Lacroix joined Chelsea. The club also retains interest in Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong and Brest centre-back Raphael Le Guen.
